A Girl Named Vern

Not too long ago, this was me. Just a gal from the North Country of Minnesota, singing showtunes in front of our now-archaic family video camera; designing, publishing, and distributing my own mail-order sales catalog; writing stories on my ultra cool Samsung typewriter; saving worms from drying on the sidewalk; and dreaming of the day I would be all grown up.

And now that I am, as you might have guessed, not too much has changed. I've still got all those same entrepreneurial, creative, musical, and humanitarian sides to my personality, and I'm working on finding out how they can be combined to become the super-hip woman I always dreamed about being. Except I won't be changing my name to Donna. Why I thought that name was super-hip at age nine, I'll  never really know.

This blog is very much a work in progress, just as I am. Miles away from the rusty-red soil of my first home, I've made a life for myself in the perfectly soggy Pacific Northwest. There's not a day that I don't feel those tiny bits of crimson ore running through my blood: memories and sounds and smells. But for now, my home is in my ideas, in the hopes and plans for their fruition. Someday, I'll have collected a myriad of souvenirs from the places and people and realized dreams that I've been lucky enough to make my home in. And until then, I'll be living, designing, writing, thinking, singing, managing, helping, and learning. What more could I need? Except that Samsung typewriter of course.
